5 DIY Valentine’s Day Gifts

So you forgot to get something for your special someone and Valentine’s Day is only 4 days away? Maybe you wanted to get creative this year, or just don’t know what to get for the girl(or guy) who has it all? Well luckily for you I am here to help! Here are 5 sweet and thoughtful gifts for your special someone:

  1. Sharpie Mugs:

These are one of my personal favourites and they are so easy to make. Step 1: Go to your local dollar store(or a home decor store) and buy plain white mugs, or any colour you prefer. Step 2: Grab your favourite Sharpie markers, any colours you like. Step 3: You can go ahead and write directly on the mugs if you’re real adventurous or have perfect writing, or, if you want to make things easier, print out some words in whatever font you want, colour the back of the word with a pencil, tape it onto the mug, and trace over the word with a pen, it’ll be light but visible enough that you can go over it with your sharpie. Step 4: Let your mugs dry for 12-24 hours Step 5: Put your mugs into a cold oven, turn the oven on to 425 degrees and bake them for 30 minutes. And voila, you have beautiful mugs, to ensure these results last the longest, avoid putting these in the dishwasher, hand wash instead.

2. Pink(or red) Velvet Pancakes:

How to win someones heart: breakfast in bed, with pancakes, that are pink, and in the shape of a heart, yup. These are also super easy to make and they’re just so cute. Step 1: mix your pancake mix, any mix you like, just follow the instructions on the box. Step 2: Add a few drops of red food colouring and mix until you get the perfect pink colour. Step 3: Add these into a baster or a bottle with a spout, this will make it easier to get the perfect shape. Step 4: You can free-hand this next step, and try to make the perfect heart, or, place a cookie cutter on your pan, and pour the batter in there. Step 4: Top with your hunny’s favourite toppings and enjoy!

3. Valentine’s Marshmallow Pops:

Get pink marshmallows, trust me. Step 1: Push a lollipop stick into each marshmallow. Step 2: Melt some chocolate.  You will probably need 4-8 oz. of chocolate, depending on how many marshmallows you dip. Step 3: Dip one marshmallow at a time into the chocolate. Step 4: Allow excess chocolate to drip off, then sprinkle your choice of sprinkles onto the chocolate. Step 5: Set the marshmallow pop (stick down) in a mug to allow the chocolate to set (you can put the mug of pops in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes). You can wrap these in gift bags or eat them right away, yum!

4. Love Coupons:Love-Coupons-for-CouplesThis one is pretty classic. You can make these yourself or you can use this printable book here

5. Gift Jar:

Pick your significant others favourite candy or chocolate, fill a mason jar with it, and then decorate it as you like. Finish it off with a cute tag with a fun pun about whatever you put in the jar, like the picture above. There you have it, something sweet for your sweetheart.

Hope these ideas help to make your Valentine’s Day extra sweet!
